Not sure if this is the right spot, but this is not a cooking post, more like a public service announcement. OK...when we get older, one thing that happens is dental-related. You can't always find chocolate candies for holidays that are compatible with dentures, plain and simple. Some are too chewy and stick, some are full of surprise nuts, etc. I like to find a good asst candy box with the little map to say which is which but that's not always an option. I found (at Kmart) a plain rectangular box for a very reasonable price that has ALL soft-centers! It made by Elmers Chocolates somewhere in TX I think. Not sold everywhere. The package is not fancy but the taste is great. You don't have to throw away any half-chewed ones, lol. I just thought I'd pass along this small thing to maybe brighten somebodie's day.

;D I know what you mean about some candy being too hard to eat. We have a tough time too. I make caramels & they are wonderful! Esp if they are not too cold or over cooked! I also add hot pepper to them & it makes a great flavor.

I never had chile and chocolate together. I should try it. Read this morning on yahoo that the world's supply of cacao is not expanding to meet the increasing demand, so there's a "shortage" coming up. More like prepping us for a huge price increase if you ask me, LOL.

I like peanut brittle and lot of that is too tough. What I have made has been good. I can make chocolates and have moulds for the so be all a like and same size. I have not made candy in long time. I was trying to get some decent filling made. I bought chocolates at Family Dollar and gave away. Cheap ones I know. I have plates for good many years. My candy eating days are over. I can have a little. Heart diet doctor restricts the sugar. I am not up on making carmels, but I love then and chocolate covered cherries. Do you dip in chocolate?
Few years ago they were have war over in the chocolate growing area. I do not remember if prices went but think it did. Prices do keep going up. They quit pound cans of cocoa it seems and see 1/2 pounds. I could not find pounds where I looked. They were high.

Yes, the price of most all food items has gone up for sure. Nothing ever seems to go down much does it. I don't need chocolate to live but it does add something to the quality of life. I feel so sorry for pholks before Culumbus made all those trips back and forth to europe with chocolate, vanilla, beans, corn, tomatoes, peppers and all the things that we eat every day they didn't have in that part of the world until then. Can you imagine living your whole life without tasting any on that list?
