Sounds like juneberries which ripen before the blackberries. They are a bit smaller than blackberries to. trudy

CF do yawl have a problem with rattlers in the blackberry patches? Here you really have to watch out for them. And don't go in where its thick cause chances are real good you will come up on at least one. I've always heard where theres one theres another close by. I don't pick any where I can't see real good around me and thru to the ground. trudy

We have Rattlers and copperheads.. Both them nasty critters like hanging out in the underbrush... We are just a little careful when we pick... At least if you smell cucumbers at least then ya know a copperhead is close... The rattlers warn ya every once in a while...
The sound of the lawn tractor scares em away at least so we run that thru before we pick...

Y'all faked me out with this blackberry talk, then I notice the posts are 2006! LOL. Jokes on me. Anybody that know what happened to CF can PM me, I lost track of them. They came over and swapped peppers and blackberries one year, then nothing....

Oh yeah, blackberry makes the best jelly. I have been trying to find a brand of raspberry jelly or jam that has a good taste around here. No luck so far, even the Smuckers at local stores doesn't have that good taste like a jelly doughnut taste. Maybe you're supposed to eat it with powdered sugar? LOL

LOL try the generic brands Rock, sometimes the extra effort that the big companies put into their product results in a watered down taste...

I've tried every store and brand around here. Not every store even has it, mostly just preserves with the seeds. I want the kind they put in a jelly doughnut. I guess it could be fake, I'd better not dig too deep....
