It's so nice tho, that you have this brand new space to plan for a garden! I hope it all works out and you get at least most of the things you want done by spring planting time.

I did not do anything yesterday that i can think of. I did not even glue the paper to make a long strip. I did walk and that was it. I want to draw it on paper and then if I have to I can fudge the stuff in. Cut a bit here and there if needed on the walk ways. I need to measure the south side of lot. They put a lot of fill in around the house and then that makes a slope out back. He said grass to the slope . So I am figuring from the bottom. Walkway next to it. He does not care how I layout that back there.
IT is late to start plants and I thought we would have gone to city before now. Over a month. They go when they need too. I will have to learn to have enough food and vitamins on hand to get by. So far okay. Food I can buy here. Not on the vitamins and hearing aid batteries. I still have a couple months of hearing aid batts. I am checking vitamins this morning. Prescriptions I will get here in this town even though they are higher by a couple dollars each. I had seed at the house. Guess I should have gotten them last night but we were late getting out there. He had boxes of shelves and we had groceries. I try to buy big bottles of vitamins and these I take for my eyes. Got that done and list made. This is where my money goes. Vitamins are expensive but I want to keep seeing. I am fightin MD. Eye doctor told me I was doing the best posible thing for my eyes. When Krogers was selling their brands out cheap to clear out as they were not getting more. I got a batch of things I needed, So I am trying other places besides the vitamin store. Some things I have to buy there yet. I have saved some. But had been doing that.
Today need to walk up town to town hall and pay the water and gas and on to the PO and drop off letters and then on to the Dollar store. Really am not in need of anything there. But they do not always have things as they run out it seems. They get some more. I keep ahead on things. And this one does not have other veggies I got at the other one of therir stores. That will be my walk for today. I sure hope to raise at least a good crop of greenbeans.

Wish I had room for beans. I could grow a few but not in the same space as I can grow a lot of tomatoes. I think I'd rather have the tomatoes. Forecast for the coming week, bear in mind it's March, is 80 degrees or better for the high with 60 or so for the lows at night. That's for the next 7 days. Unbelieveable! I so want to set out plants and I might take a chance on a couple. I know it's a really slim chance they would make it til April with no frost at all, but might risk it. I have extra. I started a small pinch of seeds for all 4 of my slicer tomatoes, then thinned them to 2 to a pot. I have room for one each in the end, so I might gamble. It would be nice to have that early-early tomato

I guess I had better plan on having a 2 month supply at least of everything.
I started my map/plan for the back yard. I just did the north half. I do have a longer tape some where. 25' here. That will do me. My shoulder is still sore but lot better. I doubt I could handle the saw yet. 1 1/2 HPI think it is, Is not the small one.
I have been seeing crows here this winter. Down home there seemed to be only the one. I suppose they will try for any garden seed.
Yeah, one has to figure where one is limited to what they want to grow. One can not grow everything. I need the greenbeans on this diet and I eat peas too. I am limites to 1/2 cup a day or one or the other or something with Vit K to balance my meds. Can not have more than that. I been using tow cans a week and 100 cans here at the cheapest would be like $65 plus 4% tax plus jar lids. I would figure only lids in the cost. But electric to can and water. Be more in pint jar than a can. But lids keep going up. last I found were $1.50 a dozen. Off brand, I do have a batch of lids. Fertilizer. It adds up. They have us coming and going.
I have been wondering if I was coming out on baking roll and cinnamons twice a week about. Share with the kids. Electric be same for 1 dozen or two dozen. Electric $22. So that part in to too bad.
I need go get a galoon of milk. And will go to the Pharmacy first. It will be a few days before they can fill my prescription as it has to be renewed. Doctors phone says take it to the pharmcy fdor renewing and not him. They get a fax from him. This is a pain so if I put in today should get by Mon or Tues. I am figuring time. Changing drugs to up here. Too going though pantry forr raisins and I did find one package so put that on my biog city list. I am using quite a few. THat bag of nuts will go for a few weeks. Was $16 and they are high. 2 pounds of pecans. I will spend for a gallon of milk and It still seems my bills run too high. I can go brown sugar and walnuts for some if I have too. Son likes the rolls and say he is not tired of them. Cheapest bread I found was $1.85 with tax. Rolls bake in 15 mins. I do heat the oven to raise the doughj. House too cool. And better than we get at the sotre. Not sure could afford to buy cinnamon rolls here. Coudf nto down there. Store got rid of the old yeast and came up on the new . But 2 pounds still under $8. Little jars be over $40 for 2#.
I never looked what fresh stuff is the store here. High I am sure. High down there. Be worse here I guess. Flour is less than $8 for 25# of bread flour. So better get 2 as I I figure I am using over 25# a month.
hope you have good weather and not frost. We will probably still get snow yet.
$65

We might also get snow or frost, that's the scary thing. The latest snow I remember here was on April 10, 4 inches. No snow or even cold in the immediate forecast, but who really knows?

Kids are not going to city this weekend. Looks like no garden this year as I can not get my seed, pans, and mix. Going to be too late to start. Peppers take long time to be big enough. Too costly to buy plants. Seed is bad enough. Need boards for frames and tools. I have no car here. It is discussing to depand on anyone else.
I went on senior bus to the doctor yesterday and I am fine. He fixed my paper to get blood tests here and moved my prescription up here. He did all 4. I do not take much really but have to take it. Says to keep wal;king my mile a day. I stay on the same amount as it seems to be doing the job.
Above freezing this morning. Gets up into the 60's now. But we can get more winter yet. Odd winter here. Or it could be early spring.

Good to hear you are ok, Doctor-wise. I am sorry your time is slipping away to get a garden going. I don't have much here, just a few containers, but it means a lot to me to be able to go out and fiddle with that a little on nice days. I do have a few extra seeds I would gladly mail you if you'd PM me your address. I know it's just seeds, but maybe you could get a small bag of seed-starting mix and take it home on the senior bus, It's very light. It would be a start, then you'd have 6-8 weeks while the starts are growing to get some boards or whatever else together. Tomatoes and peppers is mostly what I have and some squash and bush cucumbers...can't remember right now. The seeds are in a room with a sleeping person, I'll get them out later. I would feel privileged if you would let me help you get started, just need an address to mail them to.

I risked setting out 1 tomato (early girl) and 1 pepper plant, (piquin) Trying to harden them off in place. Not the best way I know but keeping the direct sun off them most of the day at first and gradually increasing is my plan. I can afford to gamble on these 2 plants and if they get settled in and take off maybe I'll have a bit of early produce. Still 3weeks or so away from normal planting-out time, not been a normal year around here at all tho.

We went to city yesterday. I get lumber for 4 bed frames. We stop at house and get my seed. Thankyou for the kind offer. But missed getting the mix and the cord for the saw. Got a hand saw and could not find the hammer. I have several. Got some shallow pans to plant in. I have saved some gallon milk jugs. But still really too late to start seed. I can borrow a hammer. I will get nails here at the lumber yard.
I had to go back to bed this morning. I was tryijg to use the computer and I could not stay awake. I am not sure if I did go to sleep but tried. I walked to the pharmacy this afternoon and they would only let me have 30 pills on this prescription. My ins they said limited me to 30 at a time. They pay part she said. And it is still higher on my part then I was paying before. Got that and I will try and stay a week ahead. They okay this pharmacy here. But need to get the pills here. Just have to budget it in. Few more dollars.
We went shopping and hope I am stocked for couple months. We had the pickup pretty full. Besides my lumber he got couple more shelves fro the shop. I had the 10 % off coupon for one time purchase and we used that together to cut the price. I will need more boards yet for garden and some for shelves in the house. If I get a shed ( and I have to have one for tools.) will put shelves in that. He put in the little garden cultivater and the weasel. One hose. 90 feet. Son used his card to pay and I owe him for lumber and the stuff at Sam's DIL will figure it out. Got the money . Sams you have to have card to but there and DIL has card. Got flour there. What hit me so much was the vitamin stock up. I try to get big bottles of things I take for my eyes. I am trying a new eye drop and it seems to be working better. Dry eyes and this wind and forced air heat on top of dry eyes. I got raisins and cinnamon and flour. No fancy stuff I will tell you on my list. I have really gone through the money this month. You know how that goes. Once get stuff here and things paid for that I have to have here.
Guess I had better call it a day and get to bed.
I set the folding table over the heat vent in the south window in the bed room. Cover it with two trash bags. I can try but think too late to start plants and have them big enough to set out.
I handed DIL my salt free baking powder and I can not find it any where. I guess she missed getting it in.
Snow and snowed more yesterday. 19 this morning and next few to be like 20. There were elk close to the highway. Some deer. Trying hunting any elk and very had to find.

LOL. Ain't it the truth, about the elk! Back in the late 60's 2 of our party of 5 were drawn for elk tags. They went out and glassed the hillsides all day. When they came in after not seeing any elk, the wife that stayed behind as camp cook had shot one that wandered in to camp. I thought I'd never quit laughing. Her hub had to give her his tag. PS. I hope you will at least try a few tomato seeds, hate to see anybody go without a garden completely. Or greens, they will always grow.

I can not eat greens what so ever.. I can eat a little iceberg lettuce. I gave up eating tomatoes years ago because they are acid. Now I have to factor it in on Vit K and that limits any about. 1/2 cup of fresh tomato would be limit of Vit K for the day. If I could find a Multi Vitamin with out K in it it would sure help on my diet. Or I would have to give up the multi Vit. I may end of doing that some days.
I have to go get a gallon of milk today as senior day at the store. That does my mile for today. I need to bake bread. I need to go get starter mix before I can plant any seed. I had to go get pills yesterday. Today is milk as a I said. 26 this morning. Not sure if went colder. That is all I get at the supermarket here. Canned veggies I get at dollar store. I just can not carry very much. I need few S hooks to hang the fry pans to end of that shelf. I think that would work as one set of shelves are wire shelves and a little room at the one end. I have to really figure the space here. I have 3 boxes of seed and trying figure where to put. Too heavy to lift around. Got to go in the store room. I do not have smaller boxes.

I am limited to 90 mcgs of Vit K in a day.
I can eat Root crops, beets carrots, corn , small amount of peas or green beans. I can eat potatoes and sweet potatoes and all kinds of squash and peppers. Some cucumber. It is just greens have too much vit K. I would have to have every day that amount and more pills. I have to have a steady diet of it what ever. So I am sticking to this one of 90. What the blood clinic person recomends.
I went to the hardware and got bag of seed starting mix at $5. Little bag. Miraclegro. What little garden I can have here that should do it. I have not sorted the seeds out yet.
I asked my son if the guy north of me used the fence to grow things. He said the guy does not have any garden, Part back there the dog of his can not get to the fence. There is a cross fence. I think cucumbers on the fence, I can eat watermelon and some melon. Some things would be hard to put in beds. I have seed fir Sugar baby and Rockyford (orange) I see seed cats list Rockyford as a green melon. Here is Colorado it sure is not. I use to buy seed at the seed house in the big city. I would buy bulk seed as so much cheaper. What they did not have I would order.
I was not planning to move. I think I am going to have a crow problems. I have not seen many but one in front yard this morning. I have seen and heard them around the town. We had a problem at the ranch with crows and dad fixed the seed corn so they left it alone. Deer been in the yard. I see more tracks.
I have gotten the seed out of the living room and tools put out of sight that I did get.
I need to wash trays to day and plant seed. Doubt if be ready to plant in time. I had put yeast and eggs out to warm up and I need get the bread mixed as out. This baking sure takes the time it seems.

I found I did have an appliance cord. Not too long but least 8 feet and the plugin is outside on the porch. Should do it. Only 4 to cut in half. My son stood there and argued I only needed 2 boards for a bed. I said I need ends in them and it take 3 boards. Then he said I was right.
Nothing done today but bake. I walked my mile. I was tired yesterday with that going to the store and then up town for the mix. I did a good mile and half. I could do it.
I have to take rolls over for my son yet. I have no meat out for supper and eat a little meat at supper. Got to be a sausage or a tamale. Both in the freezer but pretty fast. I guess tamale. Faster.

Sounds like you are making progress. You will get it all done if you just keep plugging along one little chore at a time. Do you have a way of testing your veggies to determine vit K content?
